The sick patient (in this case, the cardboard box, which is also referred to as: ‘The art’) is bought in on a stretcher by two paramedics, to the emergency room (the ‘Gallery’). Outside sirens wail, inside a heart beats.
The surgeon, (Ms Selke) enters dressed in a white laboratory coat. She needs to access the situation and examine the patient (The art).
The patient’s heart stops. The surgeon needs to act quickly. An operation is immediately carried out and its procedure discussed in detail.
Using the surgery as a metaphor, you need to identify and analyze all elements of what might be missing, in order to give life back to the patient (art).
The operation is a success. The ‘art’ can finally rest and feel at home in the gallery.
Points to consider:
From a business/economic /market perspective.
From an artist’s perspective.
What could be done to ‘fill the gap’ between the production of art and ultimately, its destruction (as demonstrated with the sick ‘art’ and the need to save it (restore)
From a consumers perspective, is art worth ‘life’.

Die „Kunst“ in Form eines Kartons wird auf einer Bahre von zwei Sanitätern unter Sirenengeheul in den Galerieraum hineingetragen.
Der Sound wechselt dann zu einem gleichmäßigen Herzschlagrhythmus. Ich, mit einem OP-Kittel bekleidet, betrete die Szene und untersuche den Patienten die „Kunst“.
Der Herzton geht über in ein gleichmäßiges Piepen, der Patient ist für Momente Herz tot. Eine Notoperation muss schnell eingeleitet werden. Lebenserhaltende Maßnahmen müssen am Patienten vorgenommen werden und grundsätzlich muss herausgefunden werden, woran es der Kunst mangelt.
Diese Performance ist als Metapher zu verstehen, dafür, woran es der Kunst, insbesondere den Künstlern aber auch dem Kunstmarkt fehlt. Zu viel Vitamin B, zu wenig Vitamin C, Überhitzung, Überanstrengung, Verkalkung, zu wenig Sauerstoff, die Luft wird immer dünner, die Kunst ist geschwächt und lebensbedrohlich gefährdet.
Schlussendlich muss der Patient an den Tropf, bekommt Farbspritzen, künstliche Beatmung e.c.t. Der Patient wird g.g.f seziert, das Innere wird nach außen gedreht und wieder zugenäht, getuckert und geklebt, was immer für nötig befunden wird um die Heilung voran bringt wird gemacht.
Während der OP werden die genannten Symptome referiert und mögliche Ursachen besprochen.
Am Ende der Performance soll der „Patient Kunst“ wieder hergestellt im Galerieraum verbleiben.
